Best Pools in Rome {Rome Cavalieri – Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts}

I am happiest by the sea. The smell of salt and sunscreen are like vitamins to me. I try to spend as much time at the beach as is humanly possible, even in winter. Even though it is quite easy to get to the beach from Rome, sometimes it is not always practical.

Last week on one of the hottest days of the summer I was invited to spend the day by the pool at the Rome Cavalieri Resort and while I am most definitely still a beach girl, I have to say I am happy to add this respite to my sunny repertoire.

I arrived early to make the most of this mini-daycation. I stopped first at the forest green and dark wood changing rooms with a strong southern country club vibe where I left my street clothes locked away and slipped into my bikini and favorite coverup before I was shown to my own private pool cabana next to my white terry towel covered sun lounger with views out towards Rome's observatory.

My spot was in a quiet grassy section away from the large pool area. I read and napped and chatted with a fellow blogger under the shade of my umbrella and Roman pines

We had use of the private pool cabana that was furnished with comfy sofas and chairs and an enormous fruit bowl filled with cherries and grapes, even a ripe mango! Bottles of Krug were on ice and the mini fridge was stocked with mineral water and soft drinks. When it was lunchtime Ilana called the pool attendant and ordered us both Cesar salads which arrived with dressing on the side and (sadly) without a salty anchovy bite.

I was in no hurry to return to my real life (and my hot apartment) so I stayed until early evening and stretched my day out as long as I could, squeezing in a slow tour of the incredible art collection in the air conditioned lobby before I had the doorman summon me a taxi and I reluctantly headed back down the hill.
