Picnics in Capri {Ristorante Michel'Angelo}
After a very mild winter and a surprisingly chilly spring, it is time to think about summer. Our plans are slowly taking shape that are sure to include trips to my favorite islands and plenty of Italian beach lounging. In Capri, my pal Holly has figured out a way to combine two of my favorite activities, lounging and eating.
You already know how much I love Holly and her husband Gianluca's restaurant Michel'Angelo. Their new picnic idea takes it to a whole new level.
On my most recent trip to Capri I met up with superstar Positano Snapchatter Nicki who joined us for a day, and we set off for a private picnic feast following the very detailed map. After getting our shots of the blue-green sea with Sorrento in the background to add to our Instagram feeds, we settled in a shady pine grove and unpacked our feast.
There was octopus salad, all different kinds of fresh mozzarella, (Smoked, burrata, and fresh) frittata and pasta salad. Of course, the was a bottle of cold white wine. Every detail is thought out, plates, napkins, cups, wine opener it is all there. For dessert, there was the island’s famed Torte Caprese in traditional chocolate as well as a lemon, an orange and my favorite a chocolate coconut.
After lunch, we spread out on our picnic blanket (also part of the package) and napped under the pine trees with only a very curious seagull as company.
Are you planning a day trip to Capri and want to make the most of your time? (Though I really, really recommend spending at least one night on the island) order a picnic, there are four different choices from simple sandwiches to a full-on feast, pick your spot, follow the excellent map and off you go.
That was the best picnic ever (and I had to leave far too soon!)
