Ristorante Flavio Velavevodetto - Prati {Eat Like a Roman}
When you live in Rome you get this email a lot. "I'll be in Rome next week and I want to eat artichokes and carbonara with you!" I love getting this email. I have a few trusty favorites that I rely on for the traditional Roman eating experience. But last week my visiting pal was staying all the way over in Prati. (Yes, when you live in Monti, Prati can seem like another city, particularly when it is raining buckets) so I had to look a little further afield. Luckily one of my absolute favorites Flavio Velavevodetto has a Prati location.
Located on the pretty and tounge-twistery Piazza dei Quiriti, Flavio has transformed what was once a garish and ridiculous Mexican restaurant into an understated and comfortable space. The staff was gracious at our early arrival and soon we were digging into our perfectly fried artichoke and plates of carbonara. I chose a straightforward Lazio Cesanese wine to go with our bacony pasta dishes. I love the tiramisu at Flavio. The cookie part is still crunchy and instead of being dusted with cocoa there is a generous dollop of chocolate ganache.
This location is equally as popular as the Testaccio original. Make sure you make a reservation, the restaurant was packed on a very rainy Wednesday evening.

I am not usually a fan of tiramisu but you've sold me! Will definitely try it there next time!
