Museums in Rome {Palazzo Braschi}
I love film. And I love fashion. Add a free winter morning and I am in heaven. I had tried to see the exhibit I Vestiti dei Sogni (The Clothes of Dreams) a few weeks ago but was met with a hastily printed sign declaring a strike for the afternoon. Happily on my second try the palazzo was open and blissfuly empty.
I wandered undisturbed for the morning amongst the Braschi family treasures and the beautifully curated film costumes. From the dapper Jep Gamberdella's Neapolitan tailored sport coat to the impossibly tiny ball gown worn by Claudia Cardinale in the Leopard many of the pieces are displayed with the famous film scenes projected behind them. The most extraordinary room has to be the ornate bejeweled Papal costumes for Fellini's Roma placed in a room of oversized Pier Leone Ghezzi paintings of Papal Rome.
I Vestiti dei Sogni runs until March 22. The Palazzo Braschi is open Tuesday through Sunday.
Excellent! We are planning a trip to Rome for mid March so I think this will be on our 'to see' list. Thank you.
