Hamburgers in Rome { da Valentino + Monti}
This very traditional trattoria has been in the neighborhood for a very long time. Full of old fashioned atmosphere and one of the best signs in town, da Valentino is well known for not serving pasta and for two dishes in particular; gooey, melty scamorza cheese and a very simple hamburger.
The hamburger here arrives unadorned by bun or condiments, sprinkled with sea salt and with a bright wedge of lemon.
There are no french fries either, just plates and plates of very good seasonal vegetables. On our most recent visit, we ate Roman-style braised artichokes, broccoli and cicoria ripassata.
While all kinds of places in Rome are adding hamburgers to the menu in addition to the more traditional pasta dishes, da Valentino is doing just the opposite. Now on their menu you will find plates of cacio e pepe and amatriciana.
